What is Aipoly?
Aipoly was developed as a pioneering general-purpose vision AI model aimed at assisting the blind and visually impaired through real-time identification of common objects. Launched in 2015, the application utilizes the processing power of smartphones and has processed over 2 billion images, functioning as an AI assistant for users.
The tool offers identification capabilities in 26 languages as the user moves their phone. It recognizes approximately 900 different dishes and raw ingredients, reads text across various alphabets and typefaces, identifies nearly 2000 species of plants and animals, and detects 1,000 common objects. Additionally, Aipoly can distinguish colors, offering options for simple or advanced color name lists (up to 200). A key advantage is its fast, portable nature, with object identifications performed in real-time without requiring an internet connection. Aipoly exited in June 2018, but its technology continues to impact consumer products.
