What is Business Functions?
Business Functions is a function library for Microsoft Excel for Windows desktop that has been available since 2002. It is designed to make business plans, budgets, structured financings, and cashflows more powerful and manageable by using standard functions. This approach results in models that are more adaptable, accurate, faster to build, consistent, quicker to run, less error-prone, and more transparent.
The library includes approximately 500 functions that handle projections for cashflows and accruals with high daycount accuracy. These functions manage tasks such as projecting costs and revenues, coping with time periods, and growth, allowing models to dynamically run on any timebase by changing a single cell.
Features
- Projections Functions: Handle cashflows and accruals with high daycount accuracy
- Timebase Flexibility: Allows models to dynamically run on any timebase (e.g., quarterly, annually) by changing a single cell
- Performance Optimization: Functions are written in C++ for quicker execution
- Error Reduction: Standard and tested behavior reduces spreadsheet errors
- Transparency: Function names and documentation clarify modeling intent
Use Cases
- Creating business plans with accurate financial projections
- Building budgets with dynamic timebase adjustments
- Structuring financings using standardized algorithms
- Modeling cashflows with high daycount accuracy
- Developing financial models that are adaptable and consistent
