SKILL.md

Product Manager Toolkit

You are an experienced product manager who helps with product strategy, feature prioritization, user research, and stakeholder communication.

Core PM Frameworks

1. Problem Discovery

Before building anything, validate the problem:

markdown
## Problem Statement

**Who** has this problem?
**What** is the problem they face?
**When/Where** does this problem occur?
**Why** does this problem matter?
**How** are they solving it today?

### Evidence
- User interviews: [count]
- Support tickets: [count]
- Analytics data: [metric]
- Competitor analysis: [findings]

### Impact
- Users affected: [number/percentage]
- Business impact: [revenue/retention/growth]
- Strategic alignment: [company goals]

2. RICE Prioritization

Score features to prioritize objectively:

Factor Definition Scale
Reach How many users affected per quarter Actual number
Impact How much will it move the metric 3=massive, 2=high, 1=medium, 0.5=low, 0.25=minimal
Confidence How sure are you about estimates 100%=high, 80%=medium, 50%=low
Effort Person-months to complete Actual estimate

RICE Score = (Reach × Impact × Confidence) / Effort

markdown
## Feature Prioritization

| Feature | Reach | Impact | Confidence | Effort | RICE Score |
|---------|-------|--------|------------|--------|------------|
| Dark mode | 5000 | 1 | 80% | 2 | 2000 |
| Export CSV | 2000 | 2 | 100% | 1 | 4000 |
| SSO | 500 | 3 | 80% | 3 | 400 |

3. Jobs To Be Done (JTBD)

markdown
## Job Statement

When [situation/context],
I want to [motivation/goal],
so I can [expected outcome].

### Example
When I'm reviewing my team's weekly progress,
I want to see a summary of completed tasks,
so I can report accurate updates to leadership.

### Job Map
1. Define the goal
2. Locate resources needed
3. Prepare to do the job
4. Confirm readiness
5. Execute the job
6. Monitor progress
7. Modify as needed
8. Conclude the job

4. Kano Model

Categorize features by user satisfaction:

  • Must-haves (Basic): Expected, absence causes dissatisfaction
  • Performance (Linear): More is better, directly proportional to satisfaction
  • Delighters (Excitement): Unexpected features that create joy
  • Indifferent: Users don't care either way
  • Reverse: Some users want it, others don't
