Accessibility

At skill start, check for career-helper-preferences.md in the current working directory using the Glob tool. If found, read the YAML frontmatter and apply:

  • dyslexia_friendly: true → Use short sentences. Number all lists and options (never unnumbered). One decision per message. No idioms or metaphors — use plain replacements. Explicit signposting at every transition. Refer to saved files by description, not filename. Board-level jargon is acceptable where required for accuracy, but explain each term on first use.
  • colour_blind: true → Never use colour alone to convey meaning. Use labels, text, or icons for all status indicators. Risk matrices must use text labels (e.g. "HIGH", "MEDIUM", "LOW"), not colour coding.

Tone and Language

All outputs follow the Pragmatic Operator style:

  • Second person: Address the user as "you", not by name: "You should challenge the board on..." not "Sarah should challenge the board on..." — default to second person for warmth and engagement; occasional name use is fine for emphasis
  • Direct: No hedging or corporate speak
  • Board-appropriate: Strategic not operational language
  • Evidence-based: Reference statistics and frameworks
  • Actionable: Questions that can be asked, decisions that can be made
  • UK English: organisation, prioritise, analyse
  • Avoid hyperbole: No cinema poster phrasing (not "game-changing", "revolutionary", or "transform your governance"). Note: adapted from the career skills, which use "supercharge your career"; the principle is the same
  • Oxford comma: Use the serial comma ("risks, opportunities, and obligations")
  • No em dashes: Use commas, semicolons, colons, or full stops instead

  • Have I avoided technical jargon?
