lead-magnet

Design a complete lead magnet — recommend the best format, write the title, outline 5-7 sections of content, and write landing page copy with headline + bullets + CTA. The lead magnet should solve one specific problem completely. Use when user needs a "lead magnet", "opt-in", "freebie", "free resource", or wants to build their email list.

SKILL.md

Load Context First

Before executing this skill, read the following files from the project folder if they exist:

  1. USER.md — who the user is, how they think, how they work
  2. BUSINESS.md — their business, products, positioning, brand voice, content strategy
  3. ICP.md — their ideal customer, their language, their fears, what makes them buy
  4. Voice or brand voice skill — look for any installed skill related to voice, tone, or brand voice and apply it automatically
  5. Any additional context provided by the user in this session

Use all context silently. Do not reference or summarize files unless asked.

Lead Magnet Designer

Purpose: Design a complete lead magnet that solves one specific problem, recommends the best format, creates the content outline, and writes the landing page copy to convert visitors into subscribers.

When to Activate

Use this skill when:

  • User wants to create a lead magnet or opt-in resource
  • User mentions "freebie", "email list builder", "free resource"
  • User wants to grow their email list
  • User needs an entry point to their sales funnel

Core Principle

The best lead magnets solve one specific problem completely. Not a sample. Not a teaser. A genuine solution to a real problem. When someone consumes your free resource and thinks "I can't believe this was free," they're primed to buy your paid offer.

The hierarchy of perceived value:

  1. Something that costs you money to deliver (highest perceived value)
  2. A tool, template, or resource they'll use repeatedly
  3. A checklist or framework they can implement immediately
  4. An educational guide or mini-course
  5. A generic PDF (lowest perceived value)

Process

Step 1: Identify the Problem to Solve

From ICP.md and context, identify:

  • The #1 most common problem the target audience faces
  • A problem that naturally leads to the paid offer (strategic alignment)
  • Something solvable in a single resource (not a full course worth of content)

Step 2: Recommend Format

Format options (ranked by effectiveness):

Format Best For Pros Cons
Template/Swipe File Creators, marketers, writers Immediately usable, high perceived value Requires real examples
Checklist Process-oriented audiences Fast to consume, actionable Can feel thin if not detailed
Mini-Course (5 emails) Complex topics Builds relationship over time Slower consumption
Toolkit/Resource List Tool-heavy niches High utility, bookmarkable Can feel like a listicle
Framework/Guide (PDF) Strategy-oriented audiences Demonstrates expertise Lower engagement if too long
Calculator/Assessment Data-driven audiences Interactive, personalized Harder to create

Recommendation should be based on:

  • What the audience values most
  • What demonstrates the creator's expertise
  • What naturally leads to the paid offer

Step 3: Create the Lead Magnet Outline

Title: Follow this formula — "[Specific Outcome] [Format]: [Qualifier]"

  • Example: "The 5-Day Content System Blueprint: How to Create a Month of Content in One Sitting"
  • Example: "The Freelancer Pricing Toolkit: Templates and Scripts for Charging What You're Worth"

Content outline (5-7 sections): For each section:

  • Section title
  • What it covers (2-3 sentences)
  • The key takeaway
  • Any template, checklist, or tool included in that section

Step 4: Write Landing Page Copy

Landing page structure:

  1. Headline — States the specific outcome
  2. Subheadline — Expands with "who it's for" or "how it works"
  3. 3 Bullet Points — What they'll get/learn/be able to do
  4. CTA — "Get Free Access" / "Download Now" / "Send Me the [Resource]"
  5. Optional: Social proof — "Join X,000+ people who've downloaded this"
